I agree with you that noble's swordplay/defense should have *some*
advantage,but I don't feel it should be given at combat-time to other
troops other than the noble (without some other "command troops" skill
prev discussed) but rather at train-time.

A noble with better archery should train better archers,yes,but a
noble just by being a great swordsman should not be able to coordinate
200 peasants in an attack-I think we are talking about different
skills,one thing is what the noble can do (Swordmanship/Defense) the
other is what he can coordinate in the battlefield (Tactics,or
Generalship as discussed in other posts)...and maybe another how he is
at transmiting his skill to trainees (Train? :) )

However,your idea of having better skilled nobles train better troops
is a good one,maybe swordsmen trained by a (100,100,0) noble might
become (20,20,0) instead of (15,15,0) but again the effects (I
think...) would be hardly worth the effort (Maybe a greater increase?)

You can't have noble's skill give an advantage to the whole stack
without and additional skill to govern its use,that's admiting
Swordplay/Defense suck (yes,they do,but they can be improved,and we're
avoiding the problem with your solution,not solving it :) ) and the
noble will never be able to kill a stack solo (there goes Conan... :))

I feel not only should the noble be able to help others stacked with
him in battle (Generalship) but also if he and a party of others want
to go out and trash some people,and they are good at it, they should
be able to (in a controlled manner of course,with EFFECTIVE
Swordplay/Defense...)

That's what we are trying to solve here,but I feel that shifting the
essence of the skill towards something else (making Swordmanship
something like Tactics) doesn't help...even though that does not mean
it's a bad idea to have the other skill :)

All opinions IMO,I'm probably terribly wrong,so correct me :)
