I assume you have tongue in cheek?  Let's do the math shall we?  A
noble starts at (80,80,0).  It takes 6 days to raise 1 point (I assume
once you are grand master the skill only takes 6 days).  So (1250 -
80) * 6 / 30 = 234.  So to get from 80,80,0 to 1250,80,0 would take
234 turns.  If you are willing to wait 4.5 years of REAL TIME, you
*might* survive combat with a novice and 10 peasants.

I just realized I made a glaring error in my computation, you listed
(1250,1250,0), so that's 9 years of real time, not 4.5.  Of course, if
you are able to find a few magic items, you might be able to shave a
few years off of your effort.

I guess this proves how useful defense and swordplay are.

These skills might be more valuable (and magic items to boot) if they
provided a bonus to the entire stack.  Every 10 points of defense over
80 adds 1 point of defense to everybody in the stack.  Every 10 points
of archery over 80 adds 1 point to every unit with a missle attack,
etc.
