:)  They should lighten-up.  I have no experience with other
war games other than Galaxy, but as I said it helps to keep
emotions down.  People will start taking attacks personal.

If 100% of the players don't like it you might stop it and
search for another game, but if fewer of them object you should
go ahead.  Many tacticks can be used in warfare afterall :)

If the game is really abstract I can imagine people objecting.
If one plays a game of chess, and starts a whole story each time
one moves a piece people would get anoyed :)  But it looks
to me most games are not that abstract.
