Ah. You must have a different definition of 'spurious' than I do. I consider
saving me time to be a non-spurious reason, and I have personal experience
that says the filter does save me time.

In any case, each Phoenyx listowner decides for him/herself whether to use the
filter or not. One message, once, not a continuing hassle, if the listowner
doesn't want to use the filter.

I fail to see how this has any relevance on whether the Phoenyx is a useful
service. If someone wants to run a list there, and doesn't want to filter
subscribers, then they don't have to. Most mailing list software lets
listowners manually approve subscribers if they prefer; listowners can refuse
subscribers for any reason including 'spurious' ones. What's the difference ?
