I run a list on the Phoenyx.

I gladly take advantage of the Phoenyx's ability to block subscriptions from
remailers like Hotmail, for the simple reason that that saves me work. The
Phoenyx is lurker-friendly; my list has many more subscribers than just the
players in my PBeM game. Most of them were probably just curious and can't be
bothered to unsubscribe, but that's no skin off my nose.

Before this filter was introduced, I used to have to manually unsubscribe
people far too often for my liking because their remailer acount was cancelled
and/or was so unreliable that I couldn't deal with the stream of bounces sent
to the listowner account (me).

SInce the filter became available, I have on two occasions allowed people to
subscribe from a remailer account (the Phoenyx allows the listowner to turn
the filter on and off), but don't think I will be bothered to do so again -
on both occasions, they cancelled their account without unsubscribing and I
had to unsubscribe them manually.
