In responce to a really stupid message I posted:

- Are you _serious_?  That's _absurd_!  We had ground-based
 - transportation for thousands of years before we had airplanes!  It

 - _harder_ to develop, it gets _easier_ to develop.  Non-linear tech
 - growth, if adopted at all, should be such that tech costs _less_ as

Yes, yes, yes. I know the message sounded stupid, and, since I was tired
at the time, I admit it. It was stupid. (grin) My reasoning, I think, was that
you start Galaxy at Tech 1, not Tech 0. The journny from Tech 0 to Tech1
(where intersteller flight is now possible) took a massive amount
of time, and many homeworld made it there independantly about the same time.
(shrug) Yes, silly silly silly.

Russell (and others) have pointed out that 1>2 is easier than tech
8>16, which is something I forgot about as well. My allies always manage
to backstab me before tech ever gets pat about 3.00 at the most. Sigh.

Other silly ideas:

Perhaps make the production needed for materials higher, and the production
need for ship building lower. Balance it in such a way that Materials
play a large part in ship building, but the default 1000 planet
still makes the same. This way, if you are shipping materials
around, perhaps a 1000 planet could produce a 142 mass ship. (Using
7 production/mass here, instead of the standard 10).

I still really like my idea about some sort of tech being able to increase teh max
industry and/or pop on a planet. (grin) Just thought I'd plug it
here again.
