YES, YES and YES to all of the above.  Range on an influence attempt is;
"same province".  You can thus stand outside a city's walls shouting at the
owner to persaude him to work for you!  This image in my minds eye has always
made me laugh.

If you are going down the influence route, practice/use it as much as possible
and get a 100% bless on if you can.

Characters never have to worry about food, only population, slaves, animals
and soldiers have to perform the un-herioc act of eating.

Hmmm, as for your weapon, this looks like a GM mistake.  I would hazard a
that it will make no difference.  Those requirements are what stop you
equiping that wepon/armor, but the GM has equiped it for you!  However, if
you want to put on a good suit of armor that you just ripped off some
monster in lair, you'll have to write an equip order and suddenly you won't
be able to use that weapon any more.  Unless it is something damn good, like
Powr 3 or higher, point this out the the GM on your next turn!

Max PC for a starting HERO position is 25.  In NIC that just about makes you
reasonable.

Make your Ranger overall commander of the party, (GBO B8, slot 9) and give the
party a second phase military order of map and Explore (30).  You will then get
a 3x3 square map in your exploartion reports.

Slowest member does you in.  Charm of movement also affects the slowest member.

Only if you SEE (spy, scry, view) the MAIN character.  Otherwise all you see`
are colours.  Of course once youknow a set of colours is in a certain faction
then you have all that persons characters pegged.

Yes, you are right again.

You have to spy and scry it.  Trying to enter won't start a battle.  It is the
forces ecounter orders that do that.  Again scry or spy will tell you those.

Yes.  Let no player characters enter.  Normally on smaller towns
      Let every character enter.       Larger cities

In NIC I expect there to be cities banning people from particular factions though.

If you don't, know can attack you.  This could be nice.  You can only be got at
by an assassin, unless you are in a town where you can be arrested by the
soldiers.  If you don't assign slots, you can't attack lairs.

Yes they show up.  Go into a town with a market and view the town.  You will
see what is on sale and for how much.  I believe any character can execute
the GBO buy at market order.  The difficult bit is selling to markets and
Pop segs.  That is what a merchant does.
