Legends: more questions From: lee@torrid.ogo.dec.com (wooga wooga wooga) Date: Mon, 14 Jun 1993 15:30:12 +0000 I finally got my setup for NIC4 (hero position) and, after poring over my turnsheet & flipping madly through the various rulebooks, I have a few questions. (the answers to some of which will be, no doubt, "immediately obvious to the most casual observer.") It seems to me that typical things you might do on a first turn might include: set battle & duel spells scry likely looking lairs practice skills scray and/or enter nearby cities/towns/castles attempt to influence someone (what's the range on an influence attempt, anyway? same province? same location?) Am I on the right track? Neither of my characters has any food listed as possessions. Is this a problem? (i.e. do I need to get some food from somewhere soon? Where do you get food from, anyhow?) Also, one character has a weapon equipped for which they do not have (by the book) the required dex -- will that have a detrimental effect in combat? I know this has been asked before, but what's a decent personal combat value? 10? 20? 30? I recall a brief mention of Rangers' mapping ability, but I haven't seen any orders that deal with it. What's the story? (and, are there any mapping tools for players on the net?) Is party(force) movement limited by the slowest member? (i.e. does it speed you up to mount one character if the other is still on foot) Are factions visible attributes? (can you tell what faction a person belongs to?) What determines whether you can enter a location? (my guess is that it depends on what the location owner has set with the set force entry conditions order) How can you tell? (if you try to enter location you are excluded from, will that start a battle?) Are there any typical standing orders for non-location owning positions? Do I need to assign battle slots yet? (only 6,7 & 8 are listed) Do marketplaces show up in general knowledge reports? How do non-merchants determine what is wanted/available at marketplaces & what prices are? (my guess: the view guild command Thanks, -- *A* Andy Lee lee@n2itiv.enet.dec.com or ...!decwrl!n2itiv.enet.dec.com!lee lee@torrid.ogo.dec.com or ...!decwrl!torrid.ogo.dec.com!lee Referenced By Up
