As ever, it's the hidden features that matter.  I had a character who
had the Dagger of Darkness:  It's a nice weapon, but I never got any
free spells or spell points out of it.  I never did figure out whether
I needed to be a particular race or religion or status for those
benefits.  (It just isn't practical to cast three runespells on every
interesting item.)

I'd consider the +590% figure suspect, btw.  A runeknowledge on this
item reveals it to have +500% AF and +250% MiAF, with 0% terrain bonuses,
so the extra 90% is most likely to consist of non-weapon modifiers.
