Just thought I would kick in here, with my personal plan to SPAM this
newsgroup out of existance.
  I just posted the first of what is going to be a monthly or bi monthly
series of ads.  It was about a new game being offered by my company, and
was a whole whopping 27 lines.  Future newsgroup destroying ads will
include information about new Time Frames available, new features and the
like.
  They will all be in the 20-40 line range, so those people who have to
pay ten cents a line to read the newsgroups are going to get spammed out
of existance here! Bwahahahahahhahahahahahaha!
  Whups...Sarcasm mode off.
  Seriously, this newsgroup is about a hobby.  There are no evil corporate
giants in this hobby who don't care what their customers think.  If any
moderator tried that particular ploy, they would find themselves with a
rapidly shrinking customer base, and *WE ALL KNOW IT*.
  One of the things that came up time and again during the Free vs Pay
thread that I started, was that Customer Service was a prime
consideration, if not *the* prime consideration.  If any companies on this
NG did not already know that, they do now.
  All of this is a long winded way of getting to a simple fact.  This
newsgroup can and should be a community of people involved in this hobby,
with all of us interested in the betterment of the hobby.  What Moderators
who post here want to do is expand the hobby, not shrink it.  We all want
to see more traffic here of all sorts relating to the hobby.  Game
reviews, positive and nagative.  Turn diaries that give us a clue as to
how a game plays.  Infomational postings (Read ADS here) from companies
telling what is coming up, or simply reminding the newer readers about an
old classic game that they might have missed.  I would even like to see
more digests, if they were made more interesting to someone who has not a
clue what the game is about.
  This group is already pretty tight, and I believe that it can be self
policing.  Witness the recent Tribe Wars right here on the group.  We have
a good mix of moderators and players here, despite recent opinions to the
contrary (This thread alone has had over 35 posters, and only 6-7
Moderators), and SPAMers will be dealt with.
