[ANNOUNCE] Tartarus, the war is getting nasty From: gibbonsj@tfseur.co.uk Date: Wed, 19 Aug 1998 00:00:00 +0000 Hello, This is to try and entice some of you to come and try out Tartarus, our Internet war game which has been running for about 2 months now. The first 30 turns are free, and then its only 10 UK pounds (about 16 US $) for 90 turns, but read on, if you like war/strategy/tactical games you will love this one. This game gives you control of a clan of Titans (robots), you can design the configuration of each of your forces, and evolve the tech levels as you progress in the game. The game is a hugely tactical combat game, only through combat can your clan gain the points it needs to grow. A recent example has been the co-operative efforts of an elder clan - the Slogs, and their younger allies the Talons, both have managed to deliver murderous fire from the north of the spawning grounds. The response has been for younger clans to group together and counter attack, not sure how this will work out for them just yet. Meanwhile the Bulimic and Gout-Leg's are engaging in their 4th major conflict... The game has an annonymous email forwarding system that can encourage alliances and taunting. Your forces are displayed on a graphical hex map, and each turns reports can be reviewed very simply using the same map. It's all written in Java, so you need the Java plug-in and an internet connection and thats all. The free start up period is currently 30 turns - thats 30 days, with no obligation. Take a look and join the war at http://www.faraway.co.uk/tartarus.html If you like games of war you will like it, after all we do!
