Newsgroup suggestions - for moderators From: "Scott R. Greg has one single issue he cares about: keeping advertising off of this newsgroup. I've never seen him "flame" anyone on any other subject, and frankly, if you think Greg is a "flamer" you need to get out more often. If anyone is to blame for continued flamewars on this newsgroup it is you. Every time some new moderator has to be reminded that commercial postings are not suitable for rec.games.pbm, you jump in with your canned diatribe about Greg. You cannot seem to understand the simple fact that advertisements are NOT APPROPRIATE on rec.games.pbm. I'm sure you're a reasonable person, but on rec.games.pbm you come across as a spoiled four year old who can't stop whining about not having his favorite toy. All your bitching about Greg is not going to change the fact that advertising is neither appropriate nor desired on rec.games.pbm. It obviously puzzles you greatly that most people don't want this newsgroup turned into a mecca of gaming billboards, but you need to grow up and deal with that in some mature fashion. Railing against Greg every time he reminds someone else of the rules only paints you as an idiot. To Bill and anyone else who wants PBM advertisements: PLEASE go off and start alt.games.pbm, or biz.games.pbm, or whatever other newsgroup you'd like, and write the charter to permit advertising. Then you and whoever else desires advertising can be happy, and those of us who don't can be happy as well. (And please don't respond that you don't want to create a new newsgroup because no one will read it. Of course they won't. No one wants to read a newsgroup filled with advertisements. THAT'S THE POINT.) Frankly, I don't see why anyone would even care to advertise on rec.games.pbm. It doesn't have a big readership, most of the readship seems to be passive, and it probably isn't a good source of new players. -- Scott T. Referenced By Up
