Sort of, there was alot of avertising.

I was intentionally avoiding any discussion of rpg games.  And I was also
thinking more in general.  Basically I can think of 2 systems that do
something like that.  One is the tourneyment system you mentioned.  The
other is a tech system like you see in many "space combat" games.
Spaceships go faster and faster so the map shrinks over time.  But there
could be other interesting systems devised.
