-- Special Call for Galaxy Players -- From: slothoub@cs.utwente.nl (Frans Slothouber) Date: Mon, 05 Oct 1998 00:00:00 +0000 -- Project T.I.G.E.R -- This is a call for players for a special GalaxyNG game; "Russia versus the rest of the world" Galaxy is very popular in Russia, and they play a variant called G+. Some months ago we thought it might be a good idea to test the strength of the Russian players agains "our" players (i.e Galaxy and GalaxyNG players). For this the GalaxyNG code was modified to generate G+ reports as well as normal Galaxy reports. The G+ reports allow the russian players to use their own galaxy viewer (a quite impressive one called GV). To test the new code a test game was started. This game has been running for quite a while, so we though it is time to start the real game! Well this is your chance to join. The game will be a 30 player game. 15 russian players and 15 "rest of the world" players. The game will run at 3 turns per week for the first 15 turns and then slow down to 2 turns per week. The idea is that there is one big fight with either the russians or the rest of the world as winner. Who wins is determined by how long each team member survives. This is your chance to see how you measure up to russian players (which are very good). If you want to join, send an email with as subject "Join B" :To galaxyng@wit393403.student.utwente.nl And you will then be part of the "Rest of the world" team.
