Galaxy Tool available From: Tommy Lindqvist <tommy.lindqvist@space.se> Date: Fri, 23 Oct 1998 00:00:00 +0000 Hi netpeople, At the risk of being the target for junkmail, as well as galaxy players all over the world, I have decided to make available one of the tools I use when I make galaxy orders. The tool is written in Perl, and should be runnable on many platforms. Given enough interest, I could probably be persuaded to write it into Frans GalaxyNG server as an option. I discovered that the thing I spent most time on was colonist distribution. Once you reach 100 systems, you spend more time with this than on any other aspect of the game. Since I could use my spare time another way than moving colonists, I devised a tool that did an OK job of shuffling the colonists around. This tool, finds your cargoships by name recognition. ( Search for Seeder or Col in the source code and change to the names of your cargoships. ) If cargoships are at a system where there is a surplus of colonists, they look for a system that needs colonists within a jumprange of one turn. Finding no such system, they ship the colonists to the physical center of your empire. If the cargoships are at a system without colonists, they go to a system that will need colonists next turn. If there are no such systems within one jump, they go to the center of your empire. If you want this script, just send an email to tommyl@cling.gu.se with Subject: Request Colonist Script I do believe this subject is case sensitive, but I do not know. Comments are welcome. This script does my delta 400 systems colonist distribution in little less than 20 seconds. It would take me a couple of hours to do the same. Tommy Lindqvist, aka Wizards Referenced By Up
