[PBEM OPEN] GURPS HORROR PBEM OPEN. From: Vegard Valberg <vvalberg@online.no> Date: Tue, 10 Nov 1998 00:00:00 +0000 [PBEM OPEN] GURPS HORROR PBEM OPEN. Good evening horror enthusiasts, I am going to start a Horror campaign using the GURPS rules, this will be based in part on the better horror movies. This is a call for players, the set up is a little special so I will explain it carefully. The players will have to make two characters, one for the teaser, and one intrepid (or at least capable) hunter. Note that you will have to be able to post at least three times a week to play, since I want this to be fast and furious. I have AOL instant messenger, the address is Vegval and you may contact me there if you have questions (although I prefer mail). The Teaser. The teaser will take place in 1986 during the late summer, on a isolated archaeological dig in Alaska, where they have made some amazing finds near a newly discovered Russian settlement. The people on the dig are a mixed bunch, the dig is financed by a archaeologist who won the big jackpot in the lottery ($56 000 000) and so he decided to invite promising High-School and College students, as well as a few freelance press agents (mostly amateurs with an interest for archaeology). Point total 25 Promising High-School Student; Average manual labourer on the dig. 50 Promising College Student; High-School Prodigy; Mechanic or Pilot; Low level archaeologist; Journalist. 75 Extremely gifted college student; Archaeologist. Everyone gets 40 points of disadvantages and 5 points of quirks. Especially Suitable Advantages: Appearance; Charisma; Deep Sleeper; Fit; Reputation; Single-Minded. Especially Suitable Dis-Advantages: Absent Mindedness; Appearance; Bad Sight; Cowardice; Fat; Guilt Complex; Gullibility; Lecherousness; Light Sleeper; On The Edge; Overconfidence; Overweight; Parthenomania; Phobias; Reputation; Selfish; Selfless; Shyness; Social Disease; Unfit; Youth; Very Unfit. Particularly Unsuitable Advantages: Alertness; Ally Group; Ally; Collected; Combat Reflexes; Imperturbable; Impulsiveness; Patron; Unfazeable; Wealth. Particularly Unsuitable Disadvantages: Duties; Extremely Hazardous Duty; Enemy; Evil Twin. Remember that the people in the teaser will be in a isolated Archaeological site, so purely social advantages or dis-advantages will probably be wasted, unless of course it has to do with being Cool or Uncool (for youths), or academic reputation for adults. Wealth and such is also wasted since you wont be able to use it out there, and when you get away the scenario is over. --- The Hunt. The hunt will take place in 1996, ten years after the teaser, I wont tell you where or how, but any PC who survived the teaser can get back for the hunt. The point total will be 150 points, with 40 points of disadvantages and 5 points of quirks. Plus everyone will get the 5 point advantage Independent Means, meaning that you wont have to work for a living (to explain how you can travel about like you do). --- You must have to play this game: GURPS Basic Set. You should have the following books as well: GURPS Horror GURPS Blood Types GURPS Voodoo (not strictly needed, but it explains the magic system that will be used, and why the mundane world is in the dark about everything). --- And finally, if someone wants to play the Vampire, I might consider it. BUT you had better be a budding Bram Stoker, for I will only accept truly excellent role-players for this part. --- -- - Vegard Valberg My e-mail adress is <vvalberg@online.no>, that is two v's, not one W.
