Hello all--

I've been playing with some notions for a play-by-email (or play-by-post)
role-playing adventure set in Terry Pratchett's Discworld.  Although I
will be using GURPS 4th Edition for action resolution, knowledge of GURPS
is not required to participate:  I tend to be "rules-lite" and am far more
interested in story than in dice--but I do find that using a rules system
aids tremendously in maintaining play balance and suspense.  If need be, I
will happily translate character ideas into the game rules.  At any rate,
for those interested in GURPS, the free GURPSLite rules are available at

me for more info.

With regard to the game itself:

The game is set in Terry Pratchett's Discworld (more precisely, in one of
the countless parallel Discworlds to be found amidst the continuinuua...
It all has to do with quantum...).  Characters will be part of or
associated with the Ankh Morpork City Watch--a special team designated to
deal with particularly Odd situations.	They will likely be based at
Unseen University, where they will double as an impromptu campus police
force and have access to faculty consultants.  (Characters may in fact BE
faculty consultants.)

Although I have read most (if not all) the Discworld books, I do not claim
encyclopedic knowledge of the universe, and although I will do my best to
stick to the timelines and "history" presented in the books, I shan't
sweat the details and will freely chalk up "mistakes" to this not being
"that" Disc!  Similarly, detailed Discworld knowledge is by no means
required of those interested in playing, though I assume that only folks
with at least a passing familiarity with Pratchett's Discworld stories
will be interested!

Characters should be original concepts--all established Discworld
characters will be NPCs, if they appear at all.  However, characters may
be related in some way to established characters, provided there's a good
backstory to be had.
