Job Vacancy in UK PBM From: madcentral@aol.com (MadCentral) Date: Thu, 03 Dec 1998 00:00:00 +0000 JOB VACANCY -------------------- This is the first time I've ever done this by E-Mail, but then I thought ''what the hell''. <grin> What better place? We have (or will have very soon) a vacancy for a full-time GM with Madhouse UK. The position will include full training, of course, and your chance to work professionally in PBM!! (something many people want to do!) with one of the worlds' leading PBM firms. The position will include assistance in the running of various systems, some order entry, a *lot* of creation and design of game elements using editors (no programming necessary). Essential For The Applicant:- 1/ English & Maths to a high level. 2/ Vivid Imagination. 3/ Love of Games (all types) 4/ Easy Going Personality and good communication skills. 5/ Excellent spelling. 6/ Mental Personality <grin> 7/ Ability to work well individually and as part of a team, particularly at odd hours and to strict deadlines. Useful for the applicant:- 1/ Some experience with computer coding (you will not be doing any programming, but some of the game editors follow a programming-style control pattern.) 2/ Some experience of GMing games, even if only tabletop RPGs. 3/ Lack of local ties (since, unless you live nearby, you'd have to move here!) Before you apply:- (1) GMing isn't an easy ride, especially in a cutting edge company (as we hope Madhouse is.) It *can* be a lot of fun, but there are also times when you'd give *anything* not to have to look at another game-control screen. Anybody looking for an easy ride should look elsewhere. (2) PBM has a certain amount of 'set hours' but there are often times when you have to work late or early shifts, without additional pay. These times are offset when you get days off simply because its a quiet period, fully paid of course. Flexibility is essential for a GM. (3) A job as a GM suits certain people. They are people who dont mind working odd hours for the pleasure of earning their living at something they love. They are people who take their job seriously enough to always push for better games and better service, but who can enjoy it enough to have a laugh at the work. (4) Working with Madhouse can sometimes seem like the best job in the world, sometimes the worst. But it's always exciting. If you are Interested:- E-Mail us direct, on MadCentral@aol.com with the following info:- (1) Your GMing experience (if any) (2) Your Age (3) The Reasons you feel you would make a good GM Please remember, any GM will be working *here*, so you would probably have to move. Unless you are local. Pay Packet and Benefits are negotiable, starting at a trainee rate and rising at regular intervals. (And hey... even if you aren't interested, I bet this is an eye-opener about what is expected of a GM!) <grin> Steve -Madhouse UK Referenced By Up
