PRESS RELEASE: Bitter Woods Multipler PBeM Game From: "Skip \"Darksan\" Franklin" <wargamer@swbell.net> Date: Sun, 06 Dec 1998 00:00:00 +0000 Dear Readers, Lurkers and non-gamers lost in USENET. The German Wehrmacht has been reported attacking in the frozen Ardennes Forest of Belgium and Luxembourg. General Eisenhower's Public Information Office states that it is only a small counterattack and nothing should be made of it. However unconfirmed reports of two captured SS troops has brought doubt in this reporters mind. V Corps is preparing to push towards the Roer River Near Monschau, Germany but the planned offensive came to a quick halt with Germans attacking on both flanks of the lead attacking division, the 2nd Infantry. The 102nd Cavalry Group handily repulsed an attack by a weak volksgrenadier division. The 99th Infantry Division on the right flank of the "Indianhead" (2nd ID) have been assaulted heavily by elements of three divisions including units wearing Fallshirmjaeger (paratroop) helmets. Between the 99th "Checkerboard" Division and the green 106th Infantry of VIII Corps is the 14th Cavalry Group and they have been displaced by a heavy attack in their sparsely covered area near Losheim, Germany. VIII Corps, part of Patton's 3rd Army has given vivid reports of contact along the Our River separating Germany and Belgium and Luxembourg. "The Golden Lions" of the 106th have little to report other than a few tanks on their right flank. In contrast the 28th "Keystones" have been blasted heavily by Tiger tanks and many men. 9th Armored Division has been given marching orders bringing them out of R&R behind the lines in the area. The "Ivy", as the 4th Division is known, has repulsed an attack on the right flank of the 28th. What is happening in the Ardennes?
