There are other factors too.

Some people don't like the pressure of a job working for somebody else... and
would earn less if it meant more freedom and being their own boss.
I've seen this a *lot* in PBM GMs.  Often the GMs could be earning
twenty times (or more) their PBM income doing something ;serious' with their
skills, but they *like* running PBM.  There's a lot to be said for doing what
you love and earning your living from it.

Also, some people do *both* because while the earn buckets of money from their
main job... since when does *anybody* earn *too much* money.... (unless you
count Bill Gates.)

I personally have a GREAT job... but I still love my PBM career and while it
doesnt earn me anywhere near as much as I do elsewhere... it does still earn me
money.  And before there was PBM I was a bouncer in a nightclub and that earnt
me *crap* money... but I enjoy being busy and I enjoy earning extra cash.  even
pennies.  It all helps, dont you think?
