PBeM based advertisers? From: Richard Rognlie <rrognlie@gamerz.net> Date: Fri, 18 Jun 1999 00:00:00 +0000 Hi all! this may sound a bit odd, but... Back around the beginning of the year, I switched jobs, and part of the switch involved the loss of the free server space I had for gamerz.net with my old company (an ISP). As such, I've been forced to rent space at another ISP for obscene amounts of money... Anyway, I'm looking for ways to recoop these costs without forcing my free email server to go commercial (non-free). One way is by doing web and email list hosting. But I'm not a marketeering type, and have little enough time as it is to baby sit the system. But perhaps web and email based banner ads. I could tack on a line or 3 of advertising to each email the server sends out (ala Juno, or Yahoo!). Does anyone know of any companies that would be interested in purchasing such ads? Are there companies that provides ad swap services (not sure of the terminology here). And also, what sort of revenue (if any) might I be able to command? FYI, pbmserv@gamerz.net *averages* 4-5k inbound messages/day which result in 8-10k outbound messages... not counting the mailling lists, and "other" servers that Gamerz.NET hosts... Any hints would be appreciated. Richard -- / \__ | Richard Rognlie / Gamerz.NET Lackey \__/ \ | URL: http://www.gamerz.net/rrognlie/ / \__/ | Give a man a fish, and he'll be hungry tomorrow.
