Best ways of Alpha/Beta testing of a PBEM? From: Kenneth Strom <relic@powerlynk.com> Date: Mon, 28 Jun 1999 00:00:00 +0000 I will soon have completed my first multiplayer pbem strategy wargame. The game allows up to 100 players (though if you have only 16Megs you should stick to games with 50 or under). I am just trying to figure out what is the best way of going about testing. Open testing seems the best, where groups of people can DL the game and the host program and run games, and then simply report any bugs the the game's mailing list. If that is the best way to go about it where to do I find several groups of testers that would be willing to put up with the possiblity of a program that may not work 100% as expected. A few strategy wargame ritual enthusiasts that could translate the LNG file to something other than English would be helpful too, as I did build in a simple system to allow quick translation to other languages. It consists of ~120 lines that would need to be translated and I would assume the html files too. I will post more when the game is complete and the helpfile/html page is completed. Comments or suggestions are welcome. Ken. relic@powerlynk.com Up
