[AD] Fire On The Suns Game 2 News From: "Greg Ellis" <gnellis@ifn.net> Date: Tue, 13 Jul 1999 00:00:00 +0000 This is a special report from GNN - your galactic news network. Heavy fighting between elements of the Kahs Progenitors Havoc Fleet and Arachnid fleets in sector 405x422 has been reported since early this morning. Early reports indicate that the Arachnids may have the upper hand in this series of actions, but that the Kahs are fighting hard to penetrate the defenses of the Arachnid Hivehome's principle homeworld despite extremely heavy casualties. The Kahs reportedly launched a 3-pronged attack on the Arachnid homeworld, but it is known that at least one prong of the attack failed to penetrate to the target area, being intercepted and destroyed a few light years from their goal by Arachnid defensive forces. Arachnid sources indicate that additional forces are being rushed to sector 405x422 to assist in repelling the Kahs assault. Kahs Progenitor and Saurian Alliance forces also report sighting a large Arachnid force travelling at high speed through the sector 407/408 column heading in a direction to the galactic north. In other areas, fighting is reported between an Arachnid force and the Saurian Alliance's 1st Fleet in sector 407x417. In addition, Arachnid ground forces are reported landing at the Saurian colony world at 409x417/82. Fighting between the Arachnid invaders and Saurian defenders is reported as heavy with many civilian casualties resulting as well as the fighting has become indiscriminately savage between both forces. Commerce raiding by unknown parties has also been reported as occurring in the United Earth Federation along the UEF/FTR border. The raiders are reportedly using human-type ships, but their actual source is unknown. The Free Terran Republics is suspected as being behind these attacks on the Federation as a direct consequence of the Federation's recently-signed alliance with the Arachnids, ending the Arachnid/UEF War. Widescale anti-government riots have been reported as occurring throughout the Q'Tez Hegemony. As the Hegemony has yet to allow GNN free access to thei r worlds, these reports are impossible to confirm, but GNN sources do indicate that some type of disturbance has been occurring at several locations within the Hegemony, possibly as a direct result of the enormous deficit incurred by the Hegemony over the past year. Earlier, a potential conflict situation between UR/Pyronian forces and escorting elements of the Q'Tez Hegemony's fleet was avoided when the Hegemony vessels backed down and did not cross into Pyronian space while escorting UR vessels out of the Hegemony. Conditions in the Federation have reportedly remained quiet despite the Federation government's recently concluded alliance with the Arachnids. Earth itself remains an armed camp with thousands upon thousands of refugees from Arachnid-conquered worlds and sectors being crammed into refugee camps surrounding Earth's principle spaceports. The refugee camps, hastily organized, set up, and guarded by Terran ground forces, are reportedly rife with sickness and disease. The Grymphon Theocratic Dominion's recently announced jihad against the Hegemony may or may not come off. At this time, GNN sources within the Dominion report that major forces have been shifted towards the Hegemony's borders, but that these forces have orders to proceed no further at this time. A shakeup in the Dominion government may have occurred, but sources within the GTD have been unable to confirm or deny these reports. This has been a special report from the Galactic News Network. ----- Fire On The Suns and A Sea Of Stars are free electronic pbem boardgames of interstellar strategy and conflict.
