From: dishar@my-deja.com Date: Tue, 27 Jul 1999 00:00:00 +0000 e-Civ is a Play-By-eMail (PBeM) multiplayer strategic game based on Sid Meier's Civilization idea - evolution by studing the science tree. The following features distinguish e-Civ: - big world map (size 480x800). - original tree of sciences. - natural resources, every resource has its own productivity. - cities in e-Civ have their own budgets and their own science research. Cities have scientific, industrial, agricultural, social and health facilities - as well as fortifications. City people have health and morale parameters. - all manufacturing is done in appropriate city facilities. In one city there can be several different kinds of industry production at the same time - each in their own facility. - 2-tier system of manufacturing - equipment and materials. First you produce materials, then make equipment from those materials. Also, to produce materials you need to have deposits of appropriate natural resources nearby. - units and ships can be constructed by players themselves. Parameters of those units will depend on what equipment was used for the unit. - units and ships have 'experience' parameter. - unit size is determined by a player. - all units and ships can be combined into armies and fleets. Only armies and fleets can participate in battles. Special battle algorithm. - battle simulation. - movement of all armies and fleets of all players is done simultaneously: there are 20 time slices ( quantums ) in each turn and during each quantum the servers iterates through all armies and if a single movement to a neighboring cell is possible, then the amry moves. - state can have spies which are invisible for the enemy and can do intelligence operations, acts of sabotage and steal scientific knowledge. In their own cities, spies can fight with enemy spies and kill them. - every state is in either war, peace or alliance with every other state. - state can have diplomatic talks with each other ( using email ) and make any agreements. - geographics information exchange is possible between the states - by sending the map image. - all types of equipment and materials can be bought and sold. Trade can be either internal - between own cities, or international - between cities of different countries. - all trade goods are carried by caravans between the cities. - trade and freight-forwarding routes between cities. Routes allow controlling goods movement automatically. - e-Civ introduces rating system and titles. Ratings are calculated based on the on the overall development of each state. Depending on the rating of their states, the state leaders get their titles - up to the Imperator. Last Info.
