If you're not experienced in AD&D then why in the world do you want to play it by mail? To learn the game and enjoy it the way it was meant is to do so face to face with other people. I'd suggest going to your local hobby store and asking around about a group that needs players. Every group is always (ok not all and not always - but I'm making a point here so work with me) on the lookout for new recruits.
