The mighty necromancer of The Uplifted, master of death and the adjacent planes stands, surrounded by the smoky presence of the demon it conjured to assist him. Ryotblah chants an ancient rite, and the entire world vibrates with the Word of death! But all is not finished. This has barely scratched the reserves of power that the fiend champion has, and no sooner has the word imprinted itself in all the mages around than the necromancer begins anew, opening a rift using the power of the Word. The inky cold of the death planes can be glimpsed, and the form of one of its lords slowly takes shape... ==================== Erewhon [F80] writes: Is ANYONE trading? We need Plorn Roots and Amber. We can offer much in return. Please contact us. Thanks. ==================== Holderon's Regency [F81] writes: Holderon's Regency would like to take this time to announce its alliance with the Clan Dwarves of Mount Jagged Tooth. We are happy to welcome them into the wilds of this world. Long may our friendship and strength grow. ==================== The Republic of Virtue [F106] writes: Would the owner of "Stoneburg Trade Representative" please contact me? ==================== Blake's Blunderers [F33] writes: To whom it may concern, It seems that my peace-loving faction of ursans has been the victim of slanderous rumors posted anonymously in the last Chronicle. Someone claiming to be of the "Argoth Merchant Guild" posted an unsigned article blaming us for the death of their revered head merchant. I see no faction named the "Argoth Merchant Guild" or "AMG" nor do we have any proof such an individual even existed, let alone met any misfortune at the hands of my faction. I challenge my accuser to step forward and identify him- or herself to the rest of the world. If these allegations are to be taken seriously, you must step forward and present some sort of verifiable proof that this alleged individual even existed. Blake, Prefect of Blake's Blunderers [F33] ==================== And Friends [F29] writes: "People of Agape" said Mandelson, "Lern has renamed the town that he occupies in his own honour. Perhaps a rather vainglorious exercise. "We are at a stand off and await further communications. "We have sighted a merchant caravan and hope it brings supplies "Our builders have long been pressing for more granite, we belive that some will be with us soon. "Personally I am off to try the new roulette wheel in the casino ==================== Storm [F45] writes: The home of the Argoth Merchant Guild is L0! Signs of cattle and horses passing through are evident along the tracks and trails. Climate is arctic. This turn was winter in Cegim; next will be winter in the month of Eu. Conditions this turn were light precipitation, gusty winds, and cool temperatures. Next month Magjap the Dervish will be ascendant. A crystalline mesh permeates the region. ==================== Slash Y [F50] writes: Galidranicous Makirianicus, I would never claim to have the power to delay the passage of such a powerful entity such as yourself. Please procede with the good will of all of Slash Y. /Y Range Guards ==================== Freedonia [F9] writes: Freedonian Markets Expand! Your friendly Freedonian Traders are pleased to announce our markets continue to expand. Friendly mages are offering the finest in Magical constructions, our miners are producing surplus gems and minerals, and Builders and fine Artisans will build items to your specification. Drop us a note to arrange prices and delivery. Sorry, but we don't yet have a source for Rubies, Amber, or Diamonds. --==== Rumors ====-- ==================== Dred thanks Lysahey the Bard for his generosity. How might Dred and his people help Lysahey for future rewards? ==================== Tir Cunaxa: I, Lonto the Fierce, sail Black Cloud where and how I desire! None shall block my passage! Be warned, I shall pillage and rape the lands as I see fit! Lonto the Fierce - Captain of the Black Cloud ==================== Stay out of my town..... Coldheart ==================== Gong! So tolls the death knell of the "Great" Council. Cause of death: member indifference. How very, very sad. ==================== Message to the CMG: We apologize profusely for the unforgivable attack on your hapless haulers. Please allow us to offer compensation. The Leader involved in the attack has been chastised severely and demoted in rank. ==================== It has come to our attention here in Stelenburg that the presence of a dock and shipyard in our landbound city has raised questions about the sanity of our city planners. Fear not, there was a method to their madness. Long ago, before the last dark war, Stelenburg stood on a tiny arctic island, and was but a small port city engaged primarily in the fishing trade. During the course of the dark war, a legion of Dorvak's spellweavers lay siege to the city, and through dire magics, raised it high above the ocean in the peaks, where it remains to this day. To this day, the docks and shipyard stand as mute testimony to Stelenburg's past. ==================== Aha . . .the stealthy scout had found its mark, and a rewarding one at that . . . ==================== By stealth and craft, the Bards continue both above and below ground to seek out the sprouts of civilization and nurture them. ==================== Lodrilicon Zhalindorik, a Seeker representative is now heading your way. Keep an eye out for him. ==================== To the owner of Boidwem (55, 39): You were warned. Galidranicous Makirianicus ==================== It is rumored that the Bards Guild has representatives in many neutral cities. ==================== It is said that mages residing in the Free City are willing to teach their craft to pupils for a small fee. ==================== Well, let's see, yep, the elf with the sword got elected mayor. Fortunately the human is busy doin other stuff so the elves quit yackin about buildin boats. The guys with the cows and logs showed up so the big ants can make carts. I thought the elves diggin up the rocks was funny but I fell off my stump this week, a few of them suckers went to diggin in the coal, funniest thing I ever seen, they come outa that hole covered head to toe in coal dust. I reckon one of these days one of might have a thought and get some tools. Coifhox the hobgoblin Sheriff of the elf mining camp ==================== BARM OF TALON HERO! The Bards Guild sings the praises of Barm [C1444] of Talon [F14], Magistrate of Bactckyaws [L6564] who is wrestling with an insurrection. Last month it is reported that Barm was able to defeat an armed band of 150 robbers! His song will be sung for a generation! ==================== Hi Ho Hi Ho off to War We GO! Hi HO HI HO ==================== What is that foul stench coming from the beneath? ==================== HAS XENOCIDE TURNED THE CORNER? The "Forces of Good" Eldritch-wide are wondering if the otherwise evil, bard-slaying Xenocide might have some good in him afterall. His recent victory over the Darklord would seem to indicate at least accidental support of good objectives. Well fair readers, the decision is yours. Is Xenocide a treasure seeking looter, or did he slay the Darklord for more pure motives? ==================== Ahhhh...1:55 AM...done.,... This game is a sleepless wonder! If only I could work so diligently<g>. ==================== Rumor abounds that Dorvad is dead! All hail the destroyer or Dorvad! ==================== I feel a great evil has been banished from this world. It will take time for its influence to be removed. Lern the Good ==================== Ezechiel leads a force to avenge the death of Guri. Beware for the Void shall find you out! ==================== Oh dear me. What could this be? Why, I do believe it's the head of Scrun Kel's henchman Captian Shark! Well, it's certainly of no value now, separated from the poor sod's stinking corpse. I suppose there be no harm in letting the boys use it as a football until they can finish looting the remains of his caravan. Maybe they will spot a better ball in there. ==================== To Feldraze of Erewhon: We of House Peregrini are anxious as always to provide fine goods and services to those in need. Please post a brief notice as to your location, and we shall make every effort to fulfil your needs. Kilton Fes New Trade Development House Perigrini ==================== Xenocide has defeated the Dorvad the Ancient in combat! The Xenocide army was led by the minotaur Locamos Gar. It included 10 storm giants, 60 glows, an electricity mage named Venus, a life mage named Jube, and a few archers and catapulters. Dorvad's army had skeletons, ghouls, wraiths, a Dragon, and both of Dorvad's mage understudys. Xenocide has a very well trained army that had an advantage in both tactics and ambush skills. But Dorvad knew they were coming and cast a series of deadly spells early... Dorvad the Ancient [C1097] gestures across the battlefield, and the enemy's side feels their life energies fade. Dorvad the Ancient [C1097] has cast draining void [drvo] (6 AP, 13 SP). Dorvad the Ancient [C1097] chants unholy words of power to the darkening skies. Dorvad the Ancient [C1097] has cast black prayer [blpr] (6 AP, 8 SP). The glows, archers, and catapulters began pelting the undead legions with deadly accuracy. But it was the lightning bolts from the Storm Giants that really turned the tide, blowing huge holes in the undead ranks. The dragon and both of Dorvad's mages appeared dumbfounded, eventually succumbing to a rain of arrows. A dark era has ended and I am a free man at last. My undying thanks to the army of Xenocide, Locamos Gar, Venus and Jube. Ferin Hardol Ex-slave of the Dorvad mines. ==================== The Bards Guild salutes Caw [C16606] of The Filthy Lot [F35]. He has led a substantial force into Leiino, and it appears that he will soon take the village. Cleverly, Caw has brought artisans and others as well as warriors. Well done! May your praises be sung for 10,000 years! ==================== Chronicle End Mark ----- Mark Thomas thomasSPAMGUARD@clark.net http://www.clark.net/pub/thomas You can't manage creativity.
