Look at this idea From: Sam Palmer <Sam@Bitton.homeway.demon.co.uk> Date: Fri, 03 Sep 1999 00:00:00 +0000 I found this PbeM plan on a disk in the back of my car, Please have a look at it and see what you think. Warning: it is very basic and the spelling is very bad. Is there a game in play like this? Could I run this game? I don't think it is even finshed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Colossal earth Colossal earth is a fantasy role playing game, set around outer space and earth. There are three roles a player can take on. 1. Pilot of shuttle 2. Engineer 3. Pay load master Each role plays an important part in the game and they all do something that the other can not. The game starts on earth; the first objective of any player is to build up a crew by putting employment notice in the local earth bars. This is looking at it from the role of a pilot. When he/she has assembled his or her crew then he/she needs to buy a ship. After this point the object of the game is to make as much money as the crew can by trading goods that are picked up on trips to other planets, Crews can interact with each other. How the game begins: Each player no matter what there chosen role starts of with 200 mets and a few other goodies depending on your role. This is called "The stack bag". During game play the player might buy equipment using the order buy or sell. The item the player has bought or sold then goes out or in to his/her stack bag. In the above statement I talked about placing an advert for a crew in local pubs, The player is in a world much like earth, where drinking and fighting have taken over, law and order no longer exists and the player can easily get into fights. Again the player has health points in his stack bag and the GM decides how many he/she loses when he/she gets into a fight, To reclaim health point medical kits must be bought off street trades. How the game is played and orders sent: Each player is sent an order form like the one below; the player fills it out and posts it to the GM. When the player get his/her results of the orders sent back he/she then role plays that part of the game and posts it to a e-mail server list so that the role play can be sent to all other players. So if the order was "Buy 10 units of apples" The result would come back "The player buys 10 units of apples, making his total number of units 20". The player would then role play that order so "Jake loads up his ten units of apples, he looks across at his pilot and thinks to himself, Jim is not going to be to happy with me, we are already carrying 10 apples. ORDER FORM FOR GM Character: name: Ship name (if any): Trade orders Other items The forms that the player gets back looks like this. Character name Ship name Order Taken in account Total Payload, total health, total mets, total fuel and Items in stack bag. Total payload means how much is on board ship. Once a month a newsletter will appear telling the entire player how much each crew has got in respect to total mets and what they have to sell: Trading: Players are welcome to trade with each other, using a set of commands. Trading can even take place between crew. Trading takes place when one player buys something off another play for a set amount of mets. METS: the unit of money used on earth and the surrounding planets. There will come a point in the game where you will need to trade with The Company. The Company keep in stock everything that could be needed and usually sell them for a low price a list of what the company has in stock is available from the GM, company trading is also done via the GM. The player's trades with the company by looking at the list writing down the code number and how many units in the "Other Items" box on the Order form that is sent to the GM. When the results are posted back it will show the transaction with the proper amount of METS taken away. SHIPS: Buying a ship is very important, as the objective of the game is to trade and, to get better items at cheaper prices it is better to be one step ahead of other crews. The player can buy ships from the Company. Weaponry, armour and different propulsion systems can be brought from the company as well. Fuel for the player's space ship can be brought from the company and stock piled in the player stack bag, (NB. There are only so many items that can be carried in a stack bag and the crew leader has to decide which crewmember carries the fuel. If a company outlet is not located on a planet and the player runs out of fuel then he must trade with another player. 1 unit of fuel to get to areas on earth 2 units to get to inner space 4 units to reach outer space 6 units to reach beyond outer limits. ORDERS AND COMMANDS To buy or sell something the order is: Say you wanted to buy 8 units of iron the order would be Buy 8 units Iron or Sell 8 units Iron A01 Native Foodstuff B02 Herbs C03 Tools D04 Supplies E05 Metals F06 Electronic G07 Industry foodstuff H08 Beers and wines I09 Insecticides J10 Books K11Building Materials L12 Minerals M13 Personal Computers N14 Robotics O15 Iron ore P16 Coal ore However in the playing ground there is Galactic trading standard officers who will try and make the player pay tax on the items that the ship is carrying. Taxes can range from 15METS to 40METS The Planets in the playing zone are: Earth areas: Dallas, Portland, San Diego and Phoenix, all players start the game in Dallas. Inner space: Mars, The Moon, Saturn and Pluto. Outer space: Epsion, Amagosa, Antilis and Guernica Outer limits: Tarendia, Berus, Veridian and Halee Each planet holds different company outlets. The GM will help you out with these. Ship design: Ships can be brought of the GM for a set price of METS Turn times: The game will run twice a -- Sam Palmer Referenced By Up
