Each player controls a FACTION, a group of champions and units, in a fantasy world where they can build an empire, explore the world, engage in trade, and/or study powerful magic. Each game of Eldritch runs either as an open-ended game, or until one or more factions meets the defined victory conditions. They were great; you could almost call them perfect except that the delivery cub had taken them to the Chronicle office instead of to his units. There they were, published in the Chronicle, which no-one had bothered to read. Everyone had just worked in their locations last turn. No taxes were collected, no skills studied, no corn harvested, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING had happened. The good news was that the hunting lodge owner had earned two coin selling hide to the traders. That would really help out the budget! Time to regroup and re-issue the same orders. This turn he would be studying patience. ==================== Xenocide [F53] writes: Attention Lodrilicon Zhalindorik and Galidranicous Makirianicus you have entered Xenocide territory without permission. State your business. Do not attempt to travel further north or west. ==================== The Uplifted [F21] writes: The shrine had been plain and unremarkable. But that was before. Now, it was dark, in shadows deeper than the rest, even in the damp light of the Beneath. Rust encrusted empty holes pocketed the ashen walls. No one was living in there anymore. No one came, except the promised masters of the arts of death. 5 mages, apprenticed to death, standing on the five points of the pentacle drawn in dried blood, remained night and day, endlessly droning prayers. "Good, mused Ryotblah, now on to the church. What's use of a undesecrated church anyway. Facklown may call himself an abbot, but he'll learn... oh yes, he'll learn death, and then, he will be a true priest, worthy of the title." --==== Rumors ====-- ==================== Hey, did anyone else have strange glowing lines appear? Several small raiding parties have been broken up by our border patrols, and traces of a strong war party have been seen. We urge all dwellers in the Beneath to increase the watches along their borders and make known any encroachments by hostile forces so others can prepare their defenses. We urge anyone sighting Kree use whatever means needed to remove this hazard from the Beneath. ==================== May the praises of the Mercia Bard Friends be sung for a season. Avoid if at all possible. Drakes should be considered hostile and dangerous! ==================== Rumors of small groups of goblin-kind massing in the Beneath are greatly exaggerated. Of course wandering bands of trolls, goblins, ettins and other, less savory creatures *have* been seen in the Beneath of late, but there's no need to panic. ==================== Ezechiel student of Chavivi [C8767] has begun to cast powerful teleportation magics. Kilton Fes New Trade Development House Perigrini ==================== Diamonds, diamonds, who's got the diamonds? Not even the Free City can supply the region with such a popular ware. ==================== Bardic congratulations go to merchant guild [L15328] (merchant guild [mcht]), owner: L3420 quarrymen [U15764] of Erewhon [F80] (complete) May your empire last 10,000 years! ==================== Bardic advice: A message to the mighty En Taro Tassadar [F34] in Dun'Nadra [L13597] village, Your mill is incomplete and will not aid you until it is completed. ==================== To the Xenophobe: The Bards Guild does not wish to cause trouble to any faction. Naaman is not and has never been a member of the Bards Guild. We have No knowledge of this other assassination attempt you described And don't know the creature you named. How many have been harmed by The Bard's Guild? You have killed many more Bards and allies this past turn, and none Of your own forces were even harmed. Some of the bards do know something of slight of hand, but Most practice only entertainment. The Bards do possess much knowledge both mundane and magical And have access to material and allies. Xenophobe, hear and listen well. The Bards have endured attack, after attack, After attack from you. Just this past month you attacked and killed Bardic trainees [U25275] and Lyna [C19406] Your feigned gesture of conciliation was apparently only a ploy to allow you to slay More Bards and allies. You have one month. If the attacks do not stop this coming month then the Bards Guild Will take repercussive action. ==================== Good Lord, the shadowy spy thought to himself, those dwarven guards are far too well equipped. Steel Chainmail, Steel Axes and Maces, even shields and helmets. hmmm..... On the other hand, this wasn't necessarily a problem, but it would raise some questions among the war mages. Would it be better to use the rust mages to dissolve their equipment and then kill them the old-fashioned way? or would it be more fun to leave the armor on and watch the Glows cook them alive? Choices, choices... ==================== Okay, finally got enough money to try this, lets see if I can start recruiting replacements for the 3 champions that have eaten it so far. ==================== Atmofu town of Ogres was overthrown by 30 giants. The militia managed to kill 12 of the giants in battle. Crier of Ristaa ==================== At last! A question for the sage! Thus did someone ask: Chronicle sage, is it wise to completely meet the demand for work in a territory? Thus does the sage answer: It is said that meeting the demands of work in a territory have a beneficial effect upon the local economy. Furthermore, it provides a small source of income for local specialists who may not be able to make ends meet. ==================== Lodrilicon: Dorvad dead. My brother I feel deprived. What are we to do now? Galidranicous: Well, we *are* dragons... ==================== To Zwagonian [F12]: We have access to the supplies you desire, alas our trade organization in the south is sadly understaffed. Might we suggest you contact the town of Joshlod, which lies 3-4 months travel to your north-west? Rumor has it they are willing traders and have access to a wide variety of gems. We will attempt to expand our presence in the south, but our northern commitments are quite demanding at present. Sincerely, Kilton Fes New Trade Development House Perigrini ==================== Bard advice: Sons of Wo [F86] You are leaving many buildings incomplete. Free City Press ==================== Something is rising again... ==================== Of the spheres of magic, there are eighteen, six major, twelve minor. Those seeking to inflict harm on their enemies would do well to pursue the arts of Fire and its subsidiary spheres, while those seeking strength in defense should pursue the spheres of Earth and Life. ==================== Dorvad dead?
