I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here.

Yes, of course, you have to start work sometime, but if you process
the game as soon as you start work then effectively your cut off is
actually the previous day because this  implies that you don't or
won't put any orders in. If this is the case, why not just process it
the previous evening?

I agree that players who are constantly late with their orders are a
nuisance, but surely having to wait for the post isn't *their* fault?

True enough.

I recall at one pub meet where a player kept bitching that we wouldn't
let him do exactly what he wanted because he was playing the *program*
rather than the *game* and eventually I said "Let me put it in terms
you might understand: It's /our/ ball, it's /our/ backyard and it's
/our/ game and you'll play by /our/ rules and if you don't like that,
play somewhere else!"

Curiously enough he was actually willing to accept that!
