First he had been ordered to dispatch scouts to the surrounding countryside. Anything available would do. Now he was being ordered to recall them and not only that, but to control their antics as well. Something to do with their attacking everything they saw. Why wouldn't the upper chain just make up its mind... ==================== Tir Cunaxa [F6] writes: Lonto the Fool, you were warned to stay away. The loss of your ship is just the beginning. Do you suppose that earthquake was a natural occurrence? You won't need to take up farming, since you and all of your men will assist with fertilizing the local crops. You have my word on that. ==================== The Iron March [F30] writes: Open the gates! Onward with the March!! ==================== And Friends [F29] writes: Hi, said Mandelson The world is looking preety good really. Building going fine, Hubris, our second city is coming along nicely. Negotiation with the Bards having been successfully concluded we are claiming the title this month in the ex Bard City of Lern. Some kobolds are terrorising the locals and will have to be dealt with. Work on our mages guild has re-commenced after the pause last turn. By for now... ==================== Holderon's Regency [F81] writes: Greeting's Lord's and Ladies of Eldritch, I am seeking rubies, diamonds, and amber. Those with enough of these items to sell and a means of delivery please contact me. In addition to the above various other magical components would be welcome. Yours, Lord Holderon ==================== Xenocide [F53] writes: Vreznik Lkoz, Baron of Stelenburg We agree that the conflict between Xenocide and the Bard's is pointless and have ceased our attacks. We will send a Xenocide representiave to Stelenburg to negotiate for Free City is not a safe place. Xenocide will not kill the bards at L2753 and L2953 however they and all other bards, must move at least three regions away from the city of Xeophobia L13555 by turn 40. Any army, such as the one at L2852, must move at least six regions from Xeophobia. Any bards that fail to comply with this request will be killed. --==== Rumors ====-- ==================== Shadow Lords, Location 62,39 in the Erhuli Plains of Eldri is two hexes NW of the Free City. It is also controlled by the Free City, yet you are preventing Free City traders from entering the hex. Please remove your protection of the hex and allow free passage. This will help prevent future misunderstandings in that area. Baron-General Hildicky The Free City ==================== We would like to announce a new underground developement team, It appears that there is a need for more anarchy in our dealings with the overland. It will be in the form of the Green Ripper ==================== The Lugeoati Militia of Ice Gnomes defeated 15 hostile glows and only 5 gnomes. 13 Glow Stones were recovered. Barthon Grav Lugeoati Granary ==================== C'mon Merchant Guild! ==================== From: The Dwarven Council of Stoneburg The Council sends greetings to The Republic of Virtue. We are glad to hear your intentions are peaceful. We look forward to developing trade with your fair people. We have a variety of weapons and armor available in our capital city, and urge you to send a representative to establish a trade agreement with us. Our city is open to all peaceful travellers. We are presently engaged in significant scouting along the edges of our territory, both to uncover potential allies and to expose the plans of the goblin hordes. One of our scouts did spot the following unit in the Beneath to the north west of our city: - Scrawny Runt of Townsmen [F1] 1 goblin [gobl] (unit) loyal Additional sightings of goblinish war parties have included troll and ettin forces. At least one organized war party numbering over 100 individuals has been spotted in distant territories. This war party was accompanied by a number of giant spiders and beetles, indicating a stable staging ground for these attacks (everyone knows you don't train giant beetles over night). Once again we urge all peaceful citizens of the Beneath to join us in stamping out this goblin threat. For those wishing to contact us in Stoneburg, we can be reached via the Chronicle, or in our fair city, which is located in the distant northwest. Distances and directions being what they are in the Beneath, it is difficult to give specific directions. ==================== Power to the master. Glory to the master. ==================== To Storm [F45] Subject: Military action in Snodfufa plain Per our earlier notice, your blockade of Snodfufa plain is interfering with Stelenburg military operations. The one month waiting period has expired. We regret to inform you that military force has been used to remove this obstacle. Vreznik Lkoz, Baron of Stelenburg ==================== wholly cow! Wholly Cow! The invasion has begun! O O what shall we do? The big ugly ogres have crossed into our lands. The lands may be scarred forever. I'm sooo scared, O what shall we do, I want my mommy! They have elepharts you know. Do you know how bad elephart dung smells? All most as bad as Ogres do. Make note distribute gas masks, We don't want to die from the odor. Odor, ogre, odor, ogre, Yea it does sound alike doesn't it SHURE it does, now have another drink. What's an Ogre any way. ==================== O wise and learned Chronicle sage, Who knows all about this world and age, Is there anything we can do, When Taw's Corruption is passing through? My Master of Crafts last month was taken, Leaving my citizens sorely shaken. Can we protect ourselves from this curse, or other problems both better and worse? Jointlock and Red Death spring to mind, But there are many curses of similar kind. Please give us an answer if you can, just sign me your biggest fan. ==================== Xenocide continues to defeat skeletons and zombies that were left over from Dorvad. They used Death Lords as part of the Xenocide army. The Death Lords appeared to be well under control. Digon Underbob ==================== I have seen a village floating, high in the clouds. It can only be seen when directly beneath it, but I am sure it is a village. Some say witch magic. Some say illusion. Some say the deities Yeotu, or Mios, or Hajba, or Nomia So, or Zar are responsible. I know not. The village is located in the Genuzolod oasis of South Wergon. If you discover its secrets, let me know. Emong Rettah, Man of Shadows ==================== Does anyone have a recipe for zombie carcasses? I have a few left over and haven't a clue what to do with them! ==================== General Hildicky, As an impartial observer, I observed the conflict which arose two months ago. In my humble opinion, I saw no such wrong doing on the part of the Mayor, Jostin Cowcatcher. During my stay at your fair Free City, I have seen the economy continue to flourish under his guidance. It would make no sense for him to instigate a riot, nor hire an assassin, as this would certainly lead to instability in an economy which he has worked so hard to grow. Instead I would be more likely to place the blame on the assassin, Fao Dar, as well as partial blame on Lt. Hack Thon. It was Fao Dar's blatant instigation of conflict with the artisans within the city which led to the riot in the first place. Such scum should not be given free reign within the city and should be hunted down for trail. As for Lt. Hack Thon, I recall it was members of the catapult crew, under his order, whose suppressing fire into the crowd served only to fan the flames. Once chaos ensued Lt. Hack Thon quickly, and cowardly, abandoned his post. In The Festering Pit such disregard from our own officers during combat would certainly call for execution of the offending individuals. Justice is swift within the territory of The Filthy Lot, and I expect that such justice would be much deserved in this instance. Free Jostin Cowcatcher! Scorch, The Filthy Lot Freshman, The College of Mages, Brimstone Quad ==================== Xenocide, Your threats and posturing mean little to us. If truth be known, this world was ours long before the puny humanoids existed, and will one day be ours again. Still, my brother and I came seeking only peace. You greet us with threats and anger. We have no need of you or your kind. We leave you to your fate. Be warned though. Some of our brothers are much less tolerant. Lodrilicon Zhalindorik ==================== All Knowing ONE, After killing a bothersome townsmen Champion, I am Still receiving Rumors of his existance. Should I beware Of his wrath and is there a self reanimate spell out there or Is there a bug in the rumors. And why do formicites swim in town instead of walk like Everyone else. ==================== From: The Broken Ones Okay, I have a question. My faction has been receiving one minor race tough guy champion for the last three turns: an ettin, minotaur, and a storm giant. One theory is that the game-universe is especially nice to factions whom have just got their butt kicked. Has anybody else had the same experience? Maybe it's just a "phase" my faction is going through. Just curious. ==================== The Free City is now under marshall law. All matters of government are being handled by the military. Baron-General Hildicky ==================== Two hexes north of that peak in an unknown canyon is its entrance. Many have entered, few have returned. But some say therein lie mighty magic and fabulous fortunes. ==================== Chronicle End Mark ----- Mark Thomas thomasSPAMGUARD@clark.net http://www.clark.net/pub/thomas You can't manage creativity.
