FREE ADVERTISING FOR YOUR GAME From: lindahl@pbm.com (Greg Lindahl) Date: Sat, 09 Oct 1999 00:00:00 +0000 Apologies for the obnoxious subject, but I noticed that the rate of new games on the PBM List has doubled since I put up a web form for new games, but not a single existing GM has taken advantage of my announcement feature. So I figured it was worth describing in a little more detail. What the announcement feature allows you to do is to enter a single announcement linked to your game. Say you are a commercial GM, and you have decided to offer 10 free turns to new players of your game. When you create a PBM List announcement, anyone looking at the sections of the PBM List relevant to your keywords (i.e. commercial wargame email computer-moderated gui) will see your announcement highlighted at the top of the page: "10 Free turns to new FooBaz players!" It's a great way to advertise your game. GMs of free games may very well find this to be a good recruitment tool. For example, a player looking for a free PBeM sports simulation often has to look through a lot of links to find a game with openings. If you put in announcement that your game has openings, you'll get a lot more traffic. See: http://www.pbm.com/~lindahl/pbm_list/ -- g Up
