Galaxy Tiger2 (Team Galaxy) Ends at Geek.NET From: Galaxy PBeM Server <galaxy@geek.net> Date: Sun, 07 Nov 1999 00:00:00 +0000 SCENE: Interior Spacecraft Command Center Lord Supreme Commander, SLIPPERY, stands on the command deck looking out into the cold blackness of space. Three of his sub-commanders approach. QUARTZ: Sir, it is done. SOCCERS: We have once again defeated the rebel Empire forces. HANORIKS: Their forces are weak and scattered and no longer pose us any threat. SLIPPERY turns to face his minions. A still-healing scar is visible across his cheek. As he walks towards the trio, he does so with a noticable limp and a pained expression on his face. SLIPPERY: Do not be so proud of our ability to put down another Empire uprising. Seven months ago we considered this little conflict to be nothing more than a minor annoyance. But the Epire destroyed my homeworld and took my legs. We must remain ever vigilant for I fear another rebellion may be brewing and the scattered remnants of the Empire may once again threaten our very existance. SLIPPERY pauses for a moment and waves his hand. SLIPPERY: Dismissed. Enjoy our victory while we can. For tomorrow may change everything. ------------------------------------------------------------- Geek.NET is pleased to announce the conclusion of its first "team" GalaxyNG game. In the game, the forces of the former Soviet Union defeated the players from "The Rest of the World" in a 58-turn rematch of Tiger1. Early in the game, Team "Rest of the World" (aka, The Empire) struck some early blows, including the elimination of the "Alliance" Supreme Commander, SLIPPERY. This was further aided by their initial 32-to-25 player edge over the Alliance team. However, SLIPPRY returned and lead his forces to a slow, methodical elimination of Empire players, repeating the defeat from Tiger1. The Empire has vowed revenge, and maybe the 3rd time is the charm. Watch this space, as always, for further information. At the Geek.NET Galaxy Web Page, http://galaxy.geek.net, you will find the final scores from the Tiger2 game as well as .zip archives of the mailing lists for each team, which can make for interesting reading. Thanks to all of the players in Tiger2. Hope to see you all again soon. -- Robert Geek.NET Galaxy Admin Up
