Polaris Day 86 News From: "Kerry Harrison" <kerry@madhousepress.com> Date: Thu, 09 Dec 1999 00:00:00 +0000 MAIN BULLETIN - Day 86 Ether-Tech Deny Party Plot In response to apparent allegations that Ether-Tech Industries deliberately attempted to sabotage the reputations of Bent Products Inc and the Great Spoon Dynasty by inviting them to a sadistic party, the Elop company's chairman today released a statement to the press. In a long message, Lord Vaerun Diedne stated that "Ether-Tech Industries does not condone the vile practice of murder. The loss of life that occured at our party was purely coincidental. Ether-Tech Industries can not be responsible for the actions of others. We apologize to the family of the young man slain in the duel with Lieutenant Morsirun. However we will not tolerate any from of retaliatory behaviour from the mans family. The rumors of political sabotage that have been spreading since the party are totally untrue." Later in the statement, Lord Diedne suggested that "both Bent Products Inc and The Great Spoon Dynasty were invited to the party in order to lay down a foundation for good relations. We did not bring them together in order to sabotage any hope of peace between Bent Products and the Free Trade League. We apologize to Nikamer Senised for any possible injury he may have suffered." The statement concludes by insisting that the matter is now closed. Most pundits seem to believe that guests should, or did, know what they were letting themselves in for. Elop entertainment has a dark reputation in the Candida Expanse. OTHER NEWS Great Spoon Dynasty Clinches Deal News began to filter through this afternoon of a deal struck between the Great Spoon Dynasty and the Sandalmelek Syndicate. Though the Terran company and Russet corporation are already privy to something of a chequered past, the two finally seem to have come to an arrangement regarding a permanent sponsorship agreement. Viewers were reminded during late bulletins that GSD's first attempt to secure sponsorship collapsed in acrimony due, so analysts claim, to failings relating to the extent of corporate coverage. Over a month later, GSD seems to have finally solved the long running dispute. Details of the arrangement were not made public. Maroc Deplores Vandalism Byzant'um Inc today issued a press release in which CEO Maroc deplored any 'vandalisation' of the artefacts and resources which might be found in the Calypso system. Though the Cephalid CEO stopped short of confirming that such activities might be taking place, he suggested that "those of us who trade and explore in these virgin territories have a duty to future generations to ensure that our legacy is one of beauty and delight, not devastation and depradation." Maroc continued by stating his earnest hope that earlier reports, which strongly denied the existence of potential 'cultural vandalism', were complete and accurate. Referenced By Up
