Polaris Day 87 News From: "Kerry Harrison" <kerry@madhousepress.com> Date: Thu, 09 Dec 1999 00:00:00 +0000 MAIN BULLETIN - Day 87 'San Marco' Launched Colonna Frontier Broadcasting today hosted a press conference at which details were announced regarding the launch of a new Colonna Aerospace starship. The 'San Marco' will apparently be captained by Alfredo Bentivoglio; no doubt a distinguished individual with many years of experience with Colonna. In a warm interview with the transfixing Stefania Diza, CFB's long standing anchorwoman, Mr Carlo Colonna revealed plans to establish a new trading subsidiary, to be known as Colonna Mercantile, which will be devoted to increasing trade within the Cirrus system. CEO Colonna stated that "initial contracts for Colonna Mercantile have been arranged with the House of Kar and the Great Spoon Dynasty, in order to service their points of sale. After that we plan to offer our service to all companies interested in hauling large quantities." Suggestions that the new purchase represented a direct response to recent tensions were put down as outright lies. Mr Colonna went on to state that "it has been CA's intention to purchase a Trawler since our retailing operations began." Experts were tonight predicting that the new cargo vessel would increase competition, not to mention the potential for colonial development, in the Frontier Territories. OTHER NEWS Byzant'um Outlines Service The Cephalid company, Byzant'um Inc, staged a press reception today in the elaborate surroundings of the Cephalid Embassy. The embassy, luxurious by Cephalid standards, temporarily played host to an assortment of journalists and reporters. Eager to inspect the building, many apparently attended the media event. Byzant'ums sponsor, Salbov Fisgheres and Weeds, took the opportunity to provide yet another tasty seafood luncheon. With a buffet lunch well underway, CEO Maroc took the stand to announce the launch of a new service. To be known as 'Byzant'um Transport', Maroc claimed that the service would provide transport between retail outlets on Cirrus Prime. One of the first to benefit may well be Byzant'ums new outlet, to be shortly located at Colony Delphi. This will apparently be followed by an outlet at Tlaxo; once market research is complete. On a final note, CEO Maroc referred to the recent, and already infamous, Ether-Tech corporate party. The wily Cephalid suggested that he was well aware that the Elop were "boisterous" and had therefore politely declined his invitation. Certain other embarrased parties may well wish they had done the same. Merlin Rebuffs Criticism In a press statement released to the media this morning, Merlin Industries stoutly defended their reputation, which they evidently believe is coming under sustained attack. The company's CEO, Kor Lek Thun, stated that "following further implied criticism of our activities, we feel forced to respond to the seemingly endless list of executives who are inclined to jump on the 'media bandwagon'. As made perfectly clear at last weeks press conference, Merlin Industries seeks to explore, not to destroy." Later in the statement, the Sanadran CEO suggested that "at no stage have we attempted to profiteer from our activities, nor do we intend to do so if this will result the ruin of the Calypso artefacts. We have only sought to bring news of our discoveries to the attention of those who are willing to watch, listen and learn. We therefore appeal to all company directors to cease making criticism through the media. We would also invite all concerned parties to initiate private communications with Merlin to discuss this issue in future." Referenced By Up
