Polaris Day 98 News From: "Kerry Harrison" <kerry@io.com> Date: Wed, 15 Dec 1999 00:00:00 +0000 MAIN BULLETIN - Day 98 Crystal Palace Hosts Massive Gala Hundreds of guests attended a massive party hosted by Marcus Alaric, the CEO of Crystal Palace, today. The gala, held at the posh grounds of Mantua Palace, was a sight to behold as the Frontier elite attended in droves. Colony governors mingled with industrialists and starship captains alike amid dancing, drinking and general hob-nobbing. It was a night to remember among the fashion-conscious, as countless new styles and clothing fads made their appearance in force. The reason for the ball was the unveiling of the first free colony in the Frontier, none other than Crystal Palace's own Carthage, a massive research institute in the making. Marcus Alaric and other Crystal Palace executives proudly displayed the expansion plans for Carthage, which include recreational facilities for the scientists and support personnel, and even an indoor olympic sized pool and gymnasium. A fine selection of cuisine, including many rare dishes, was provided to the guests by Crystal Palace. OTHER NEWS GDOP Joins Arms Race In a news conference earlier today, the CEO of GDOP Inc; Jake Flanery, announced that his company would purchase the "Sentinel Light Assault", a weapon recently promoted by Cenarchad Incorporated and produced by the Crab Nebula Coalition. Mr Flanery stated that the Frontier is a dangerous area and that, while GDOP is not an military organisation, the SLA will protect the interests of GDOP Inc and it's employees. For this purpose only the best would do. Asked if he was aware that his statement posed a contradiction to the stance taken by Mr Ramsey, Chairman of the Free Trade League, a smiling CEO Flanery offered "I not opposed to Mr Ramseys opinion. GDOP simply has pursues a more open minded approach to new technologies". Whether the comments will produce tension in the Free Trade League, of which GDOP is a member, was tonight unclear. Work Stops on Dvora Link Caspian Manufacturing yesterday reported that work on a mass transit system designed to link Dvora Colony with the Dauphine Settlement (Candida Expanse), had been stalled pending geological investigation. Spokesmen suggested that doubts were growing over whether the Caspian MTS was suitable for installation upon the soft, swampy terrain of Kappa-6. Caspian representatives called for calm, indicating that the corporation would overcome any obstacles encountered while fulfilling the contract. Referenced By Up
