Polaris News for Day 99 From: "Kerry Harrison" <kerry@io.com> Date: Thu, 16 Dec 1999 00:00:00 +0000 http://www.daredevil.f9.co.uk/ MAIN BULLETIN Crystal Palace Offers Research Aid Executives from Crystal Palace have apparently offered assistance to Terran multiglobal Caspian Manufacturing in it's troubled efforts to construct a mass transit system linking Dvora Colony and the Dauphine Settlement. Once the Carthage research institute is up and running, Crystal Palace scientists could be put on the job to figure out a way to get the transit system operating in the muddy, swampy conditions present on Kappa-6. If successful, Crystal Palace spokesman suggest that Caspian engineers might be able to construct other transit systems, elsewhere, in similar circumstances; reducing costs by shortening the transit routes significantly. Analysts were tonight unsure whether Caspian was ready to accept the assistance of Crystal Palace. OTHER NEWS Uldra Enraged by Jupitus Weapons Apparently in response to unconfirmed reports regarding the nature of the three relay platforms under construction in the Careen system (Candida Expanse), the entire Uldran delegation today staged a walkout during a Senate debate on quantum communications. The move, which prompted dismay in the Senate, followed suggestions that Jupitus Telecommunications was fitting the relay stations with fighter hangars and powerful missile batteries. Jupitus won the contract to build the platforms from the Constutitional Government last year. While admitting that relay stations were not usually armed, Terran representatives claimed that the systems would only be used to defend the stations, and the civilian personnel aboard them. Axacco Nunmyia Arrested The controversial Maunii Cleric, Axacco Nunmyia, was in trouble again last night following his detention at a religious rally. The rally, which was transmitted live across Monn, was organised to draw attention to the lifting of import restrictions on MO Agricultural Modules, which the High Priest is known to fiercely oppose. Nunmyia's speech was inflammatory from the start, calling for the reinstatement of official theocratic control over the business of the Maunii state. Demanding the abolition of the Maunii democratic chambers, Nunmyia broke a catalogue of public order edicts which were brought into force last month. The cleric was arrested following the conclusion of his speech. As news of his detention spread, fellow religious figures predicted serious disturbances would arise throughout Maunii space. Up
