Just to tack on something, I went to Commune 3 and was mightily impressed. I
think I was about the newest player in the whole group and because of this
my 'feel' for the game was poor, to say the least
That said, I felt welcome amongst the group and loved my role - classed as
'agent provocateur' (or 'the awkward bloody-minded loner character that
everyone hates and would love to waste' as Roy called him). I left late
Sunday morning because I was working Monday (which is by-the-by because I
skived off anyway) and so was never really involved in the scheming and
power-plays.
The beer, food and 'facilities' were OK to good but what stood out was the
idea that is was far less formal than a games convention but still
structured enough that no-one lost the thread of why they were there.

I did abysmally at Quake3, Half Life and TOCA2 but did far better in the
women states, in that at least I got a kiss and a hug from most of them (as
well as some of the blokes inc. Roy and Mervin, ag!) when I left.

Absolootley brilliant - Now all I have to do is get a few turns in and I
might soon learn exactly what it was all about.
