So he's saying that people who play video games "lose their minds" and
that anyone who disagrees has *already* lost their mind, in other
words a circular and self-referential argument which doesn't even
deserve to be dignified with a response.

Well *there's* a sweeping generalisation! Not only was the *whole
world* sane pre-1974, but whatever insanity followed subsequently was
*entirely* the fault of computer games!

PT Barnum stated "There's a sucker born every minute" and proceeded to
prove it time and again in his shows by apparantly promising something
to punters and then not delivering.

I'm not sure exactly how this is supposed to apply to video games,
what, precisely, is it they are supposed to supply and how, exactly,
do they fail to supply it?

As far as I am concerned a video game is a way of having fun for a
variable period of time, if it supplies that fun then it's done its
job.

I play both video games and pinball.

Curiously enough it's interesting to note that many pinball games
(starting, AIR, with the Terminator 2 game) now include "Video Modes"
where the ball is locked and, instead, you get to play a video game on
the backboard.

Another point to consider is that there are now pinball emulator games
available on computers which, as far as I can tell, from many years of
experience in playing pinball, play just as well as a "real" game.
