Creative PBMs Atlantis Times, July Issue From: "Eric" <ericsum@nospam.iglou.com> Date: Fri, 25 Feb 2000 00:00:00 +0000 The following is the Atlantis Times from our hosted game of Atlantis. We are running 2 turns per week and the game is running smoothly after 7 turns. Most of the land remains unexplored, so there is room for more players. I won't be posting these every turn since I know a lot of you could care less about Atlantis, but for those who do, or who may be interested, I am posting it here so they can see the level of activity in our game. For more details about our hosted game, see http://www.geocities.com/~ericsum/creative/atlantis/atlantis.html Now, here it is:) ------------------------------------------------- Atlantis Times July, Year 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Greetings to all of You who wish to listen ! An alliance called Southern Coalition has been formed in Hoarselveg. It contains these clans Order of the Azure Crescent Green Elves of Ossiriand Clan of the Night Ravager Coalition of Meth'Lorraine and its future members shall be Sisters of the Crimson Rose Laminar Trading Company If You want to contact our alliance please send a note to hoarselveg@egroups.com Yours truly Thranduil the Ranger, king of Green Elves of Ossiriand (59) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Foul weather has ground our movement and explorations to a halt. It has not decreaced our need for living space. The shaman expects the weather to break and the scouts to move out within the month. Then we shall see if the is room enough for the Klanz. The Warriors head north. Looking for room, hoping for peace. Myhkul@home.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ It would appear that money does not last as long as I originally anticipated. I have never been very good at budgeting my time, or my money, and now I must pay the price for that. None-the-less, events are proceeding as I have planned them and it will not be long until these simple issues will no longer be a hinderance. I have employed the services of a group of weaponsmiths to outfit my army with their required equipment. Hopefully, I shall be able to overcome the extraordinary costs which are local to this region, and perhaps make some profit along the way. They have allready begun to show me some samples of their craft and, while they are slow, they are very thorough. I am looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with them. I realize that many of my goals are still long-term, but I am confident that each of these pieces, when finally put together, will put me in a position to be prosperous... House Stirling (89) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ RANTLU SHIELD PROTECTS CAPRERA MOUNTAINS; WOLF PACK SLAIN The Rantlu Shield became an active force when soldiers of House von Wald (11) tracked and destroyed a pack of wolves which has been terrorizing the countryside for months. Many peasants of the Caprera Mountains, near the outskirts of Rantlu, have complained for months of livestock, and in some cases, of children being attacked and killed by wolves. A ranger of House von Wald located and tracked the wolves as he sent messengers to nearby House Guards. As messengers arrived at the von Wald base camp, Edward von Wald tried in vain to keep his craftsmen at their crafts. House soldiers and the craftsmen armed themselves with what makeshift weapons they had as they chased after the wolves. After a short but bloody skirmish, all the wolves lay dead with only a few minor injuries among House von Wald. Beth Ruthengotten, a peasant woman of the mountains, told reporters, "Bless be the Gods for the Rantlu Shield. Now our herds and children are safe from the wolves. I can breathe easier now." As the peasants praised Edward von Wald, he was heard to say, "I'm just a simple blacksmith, it is the Guards and ranger who should get any credit for protecting the lands." ------------------------------------------------------------------------ In response to an article posted about us in last months times. Due to a misunderstanding between myself and one of the leaders of my guards one of the regions surrounding Drumcollogher was indeed pillaged. This was a mistake for which my faction is now paying, we have learnt from this and will not make the same mistake again. However I now turn to the source of this information - an unknown faction who perhaps should be silent on the matter of desolation and war: - War (3589), viking [VIKI]; The comming of the great battles where hundreds would stand apart and thousands would die in vain.. - Pestilence (3587), viking [VIKI]; A swarm of insects devouring all vegetation in their path.. To this unknown faction whose four horsemen are even now scouting out the land I issue this warning: In accordance with the guiding principles of my alliance we allow free, unrestricted movement and trade accross all regions we currently claim with only one request made - that all factions reveal their units affiliation to whatever faction they belong. I have no problems with you harvesting the land i currently guard or simply observing but if your units do not reveal faction then they are to be considered hostile. Please disregard this warning if you so wish but I will not be held accountable for my actions. To other factions recently arriving at Drumcollogher please contact one of the older factions in the city who can give directions to the nearest unclaimed land, in this way we can maybe avoid bloodshed. Regards Jeremiah Sons of Ebenezer (34) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Edward reread the letter again before throwing it into the fire. "Damned Sea Elves!" It seemed to Edward that once the sea elves get inland a few miles all they do is want to sit around and complain that they do not have enough money. Two, TWO of his elven scouts refused to follow orders to train in new skills. "That's not an elven art", "The air is too dry here", "I don't have enough money to learn that, gimme more," whined the sea elves' letters. Edward took a couple of deep breaths. He knew he wasn't being completely fair to his scouts. Due to some powerful magic that he did not understand, Edward relived the same day twice. Everything happened today exactly as it has the day before. Dirk even smashed his finger at the anvil, just like yesterday. Edward spoke with his foremen and sergeant of the guard, it looked as if only Edward knew that the days were repeating. Then finally around noon of today (the second today) something different happened. Peasants boys ran into the camp crying wolf. Edward lead the soldiers and craftsmen to slay the wolves. With this change, Edward hoped that he would not receive *those* letters from the scouts that he received yesterday (or the first today) However *those* letters did come. The first day he read the letters, he was just slightly bothered. However reading the same complaining letters two days in a row was too much for Edward. Edward threw the letters into the fire. He stormed off to find a hammer and an anvil to work off his anger. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Letter home from the Chief:Drumcollogher The winter seems to last forever here. But this long winter has been a good time for consolidation rather than growth. Many of the men who have joined me are talented enough to teach others after they have learned their skills. We have concentrated on developing those skills. Rumor has it that new lands await at a great distance. When winter ends, I shall explore those lands. The land here seems productive enough but completely lacking in natural resources. It does, however, produce horses in abundance. In the future, my men and I shall at least ride in great style rather than walk. Your faithful son, The Chief Tribals (26) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If an evil is growing in Gourock, it must be because of the blasted monsoons. With weather like this, good and strong nations become soggy. Well, the sun is rising and those who let the drearyness creep into their souls should beware. Greetings from Gourock Silicon Mystics (53) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Trade Federation is here to help and help is what we are here for. The questions just keep pourring in and to let you know how much your questions means I will answer them here in the new column of the Atlantis Times Dear Dayd. Dear Dayd, Recently I tried to from a new unit have it study combat and then move to the south, but when I got my report back it said that I couldn't do this why? Hopeless in Hoersalsveg Dear Hopeless, Don't be discourged you're not the only one who has had this problem before. What causes this error is the fact that you cannot give your units 2 month long orders. Studying, Working, Moving, Sailing, Entertaining, Producing, Building and Teaching are all month long orders along with Teleportation spells. Dear Dayd, I recently purchased some elves for entertaining and taught them how to entertain, but I don't want to have to tell them each month to entertain. Is there a way I can order them just one time and make them entertain every month? Planner in Partry Dear Planner, Yes there is an easy way that you can order a unit to perform a job month after month. By using the @ sign before issusing an order it will appear on the report in the following months lightening your workload. Dear Dayd, I recently heard that the Trade Federation is nothing but your quest to rule all of Atlantis is this true? Distressed in Drumcollogher Dear Distressed, Fear not the practices of the Trade Federation. This group is only seeking for peaceful exploration and developement of Atlantis. I have no plan on trying to conquer the world as this would mean the end of life as we know it. Some would like you to believe that as they fear the unknown. Rest assured that the Trade Federation is a happy organization full of peace and prosperity. Well I believe that is all the room I have for this month's addition, but send me your questions care of BradT@aol.com and I'll be more than happy to publish them with a thoughtful response. Dayd, Fishers of Elves (19) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Greetings Fellow factions of Antor! Do you want to provide goods and services to other factions and have friends who'll back you up in times of Crisis? Or do you just want to peacefully Co-exist and train your mages? If this sounds like you, have you considered joining the Trade Federation? If so, have your Magi contact Ulf Thorrson of the Asatruar (56) at this magical address: webwolf@brevard.net We can't wait to hear from you! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hmmm. . . Ashvar looked once again at the plans of the mighty tower. Then he looked at the location where the work had already commenced -- however the tower was gone, and where their had been one set of workmen their now stood two. "Very confusing, this", muttered Ashvar under his breath . . . "Let's see if we can find out what is going on . . ." [due to an error in the turn report, the tower of the Coven has been delayed, it will be built as you read this report. For further information you can reach the Coven at grandsultan@hotmail.com] The Coven (28) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Vanir! Who are those people taxin the inhabitants of this forest? I thought the Temple of Gaia had gained the exclusive right to tax here for the time being." "They call themselves the Amandain Brotherhood. And yes, I also thought that the Temple was to tax this forest for a while. They better not mess with the Temple, because those green-robed monks are quite adept at hand-to-hand combat. They call it what... karaoke?" "No, they call it karate, and yes, they are good at it. So good, in fact, that one of them accidentally broke the arm of one of my boys in a bar brawl a week ago. But enough about them, how is OUR project comming along?" "I have good news. We have all the wood we need and the shipbuilders are working in the ship even as we speak. And what about your part of the job, how is the training coming along?" "As expected and on time. We will leave soon... very soon." With this, both norsemen left the builfing site and went to the nearest pub. Affter all, too much work and too little mead makes a warrior weak. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The time has come for a bold and daring plan. I will send my troops out to find a new home for us all. We need to find a land free for our own subjugation and exploitation. Onward my men! For the glory of The order of the Dragon! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Perhaps we were too hasty in our decision to unite our Factions. There is one who seems too reckless for my taste. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A new bloodthristy threat comes into the world. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Up
