Re: Help a new budding GM From: madcentral@aol.com (MadCentral) Date: Wed, 29 Mar 2000 00:00:00 +0000 >>Sure it does. Clearly posters have plenty of time on their hands here, which they invest sniping at Greg, discouraging new GMs, engaging in long, senseless flame threads, and driving away potential customers.<< Rick, if you really think that people waste time sniping at Greg, rather than the other way around, then you obviously dont read the posts here very often. As for discouraging new GMs, If they are the sort of GM who is going to start up a game that'll fall flat two turns later because they finally found a girlfriend then Im all *for* discouraging them. Long endless flame threads are something you find everywhere on the web, and are the price we pay for a place where people can say what they like without concern for the results of that. Like it or not, its here to stay. Most of us aren't worried about 'potential customers' here. When I visit this site I do so as *me*, not as my company. I cannot (nor would I want to) be ''Madhouse'' everywhere I go. I post the occasional announcement here, but beyond that I just chat about whatever is going on. If its (rarely) genuine discussion, great! If its just Greg acting like a dick again, then I'll call him on it. Truthfully, you do exactly the same too. >>If they spent half as much time actually making the forum a decent place to read the hobby would be much better for it.<< Well, the forum, being a public one, can be used any way people like. The only way it'll ever be a *decent place* is if Greg Lindahl and anybody like him find a deep dark hole and leap headfirst down it, or if Greg Lindahl is the only person here. >>The quality of posts from the other commercial participants here makes me want to disassociate myself from the hobby, and no doubt also explains why good posters have left, or remain silent.<< Our discussion here, while perhaps a little heated, is not 'bad quality' posting. I have not insulted you, nor foul-mouthed you. I've just tried to explain my thinking on this. Steve -Madhouse UK Referenced By Up
