Nature of the group From: jonmmorris@aol.comnospam (JonMMorris) Date: Thu, 06 Apr 2000 00:00:00 +0000 I'm not a big usenet hound. In fact, there are only two that I look at - the other is rec.games.board. I'm struck at the contrast between the two. r.g.b. is dominated by game players and other than Rob from Hasbro, it is very rare for a game publisher or designer to post there. IMHO, r.g.b. is filled with people comparing and contrasting games, looking for rules clarifications, sharing memories of favorite games, theorizing about games and game players, lists of favorite games, genres, etc., etc. This group is dominated by moderators and publishers (and Greg). Again, IMHO, this makes the group a much harsher environment. Too many egos who are willing to make pronouncements but unwilling to listen to each other. Having been both a player and a moderator, I know that my "I know all the answers" quotient shoots up when I put on my moderator hat. So where are all the PbM players and why don't they post here like the boardgamers do in r.g.b. I know some of you frequent both groups - anyone care to comment?
