Whatever works.  If you and the players are all enjoying yourselves, you've
got it right.  If "nothing ever happens", you're going too slow.  If "that
was all a bit easy", you're going too fast.

I've been running Nightfall (PBeM AD&D) for close to a year now.  This has
taken 24 days of game time, and a couple of the players (there's eight people
playing) have just got their characters to 2nd level.

Why the worry about finishing?  Enjoying a game with the same (or possibly
a slowly-changing - there will always be *some* drop-outs) group of players
for 15 or 20 years sounds like a whole lot of fun to me!  Think how rich a
campaign world and fully-developed characters you'll have by then...
