Investment Suggestions From: "Roy Pollard" <plod@proweb.co.uk> Date: Sun, 16 Apr 2000 00:00:00 +0000 Some of you may be aware that I and others at firstday/DayOne run a few amateur games, and have done for a good six or seven years on top of the five extra spent running The Isles full-time THE BRIEF Despite being at work full-time, we have a disposable (and quite significant) chunk of money which we'd like to use setting up a viable, second-income business. As PBM is ansd always will be something close to my heart I'm investigating running PBMs as a profit-making business. Now I have my own basic ideas of what I'd want to do... 1.Three small-scale war/power games run with 2/4 weekly turnarounds as well as a small presence on the net allowing PBEM submissions The games would most likely be licenced (if available, tho obviously it may take time to obtain/develop the licences sufficient fpor them to be run) - meaning that the game would be developed slowly to take into acount lack of initial products 2.Two or three part-time workers running games and doing admin / customer service work (that would inc. myself and a fellow DayOne investor) 3.Premises (which we already have for DayONE and other business) and office space which will allow for expansion if-ever necessary 4.Logistics including a decent NT/Novell Network (which again we already have) and varioius colour /lazer printers. 5.Further external investment into the company over a 3-5 year period of up to 50% of turnover **Other businesses outside of PBM are being investigated but using the same 5. baselines as above. etc. What I want to know from anyone with an opinion is YOU HAVE A BASELINE FIGURE C. 25,000UKP TO PLAY WITH - WHAT WOULD YOU DO? All posts and arguments re. this subject will be greatly appreciated, though I'd like to point-out that I've already kill-filed a number of people here (for being boring/prats/ etc) so I might lose the thread every now and then.
