Why do games go commercial? From: treasonmaster@my-deja.com Date: Fri, 26 May 2000 00:00:00 +0000 Howdy I belong to this group for over a year now, and I have never seen this topic discussed here. As a hobbyist, and, until now, critical defender of non-commercial pbem's I have seen myself in minority against the amount of company GM's that strive. However, my convictions on this matter (how should I say) are loosing some basis. As the conflict within is far from resolved, and I feel that such thoughts strike other than just me, what's your view on the matter? I notice that most company GM's are veterans in the area. I wonder if most of you have a smile now... "yeap, we've been all there...". Is it compulsory to start thinking on getting some compensation after enough is given for free? Not that I'm thinking of starting a company. Rest assure, I haven't that intent. I'm still pro-hobby, and agains't commercial games. But I start to understand the for's of it.
