Galaxy - Need feedback on Ideas From: "Johan van Niekerk" <johanvn@mail.petech.ac.za> Date: Tue, 01 Aug 2000 00:00:00 +0000 Hiya all I've been toying with an Idea of running a few different galaxy games. I'd like to hear from galaxy players out there what their opinions are on these ideas. 1. Randomly assign players starting planets of different sizes and configurations. e.g a player can get either 1 size 2000 planet OR 2 size 1200 planets OR 3 size 900 planets The reason for the difference in total size should be obvious if you ever had to build large ships :) 2. Have a Large game with a GM controlled threat that the players have to face at some time or another. What I mean with this is all players start equall say one size 1000 planet. The GM however control a single (if possible in the centre of the galazy) nation starting with a size 3000 and a few size 1000's. This SUPER nation is then run according to a fixed set of rules. e.g. - Only attack a nation if you are attacked first OR if there is no more empty planets within 30 (40/50/etc) lightyears of the home planet. - Allways retalliate harsly if attacked - Spend equall amounts of industry on research/collonisation/warships etc. Kinda like having the borg which grows very fast and at some stage will get to you if you don't unite and take it out. 3. Galaxy tournament!!! Run a series of games where the first (n-1) is turn limited. I.e. Game 1 runs for 10 turns, game 2 for 15 etc. last game no limit. Players enter the next game with starting planet sizes determined by their position at the end of the previous game each game the galaxy gets bigger. Thats it for now Johan Referenced By Up
