[pbem open] Shazrad: City of Veils From: shazrad@my-deja.com Date: Tue, 01 Aug 2000 00:00:00 +0000 Shazrad: City of Veils A new free-form fantasy play-by-email roleplaying game. ---------- If you glanced at any map, you could say that while in Shazrad, you are surrounded by sea and desert. But if you had been there, you would say that, within the city walls, you are surrounded by beauty: pearls and opals, sweet perfumes, the caress of silk, the ethereal dragonsong each dawn, the brightness of the sunlight reflected by their silver wings. And if you had lived there, you would say that you are surrounded by intrigue. The Houses and Kinships constantly strive to control the city, and the thoughts hidden behind veiled faces are of power, and how to gain it. The truth? There are many truths, especially in Shazrad, the City of Veils. Which truth--which Veil--you see depends on which eyes you use. How deep will you look? ---------- Shazrad: City of Veils is a new free-form fantasy play-by-email roleplaying game that has just opened to player applications and will remain so until the 15th of August. The two gamemasters are only looking for a limited number of players and will be extremely selective. Only highly skilled writers who want to help weave a net of intrigue and adventure should apply to join. The emphasis is on interaction, an involved plot, and the sheer joy of writing, rather than on combat, gaining levels, or "winning" the game. It is free-form in the sense that all numbers have been discarded, so that the game relies on the players' descriptive abilities instead. This is not, however, a social game where there is no conflict; there is a definite plot, which the gamemasters will be directing. Nor is it a haven for munchkins who want to be and do anything they want. As this an original setting with a detailed background, and as there are a number of firm rules which are meant to maintain Shazrad as a high-quality game, visiting the website and thoroughly reading all information on it is a requisite. The application can also be found there. This will be a relatively slow-paced game, with one move per week, since we value quality over quantity. It will be long-term, however, so applicants should be committed.
