I have played Alamaze, Legends, Continuum, and another whose name I
have forgotten (sorry, Don). I like pbm/pbem because you can work on
it at your own convenience, it is cerebral rather than reflexive, you
use your own imagination to visualize events, and because the quality
and nature of diplomacy with other players (humans) is not present in
on-line and interactive games.

It is also true that on-line games have more points of failure than
pbem. I have played Diablo, Ultima, and Everquest and the fun is
seriously affected by connection problems. Your friends must be
available to play at the same time and for as long as you. Additional
hardware (DSL, video accelerators, joystick) also add to the expense.

Pbem is simple. All you need is e-mail.
