Moving to PBEM From: "Roy Pollard" <plod@ntlworld.com> Date: Thu, 31 Aug 2000 11:12:26 +0000 This is probably an issue covered in the past, but here goes... With the advent of easier information exchange (mainly through the internet) we're looking to move away from clumsy and clunky printed turns sent via the Postal System and instead branch-out into play predominantly through email. One of the reasons for doing this will be our ability to email standardised-looking Turn Sheets, Mail Shots and Images to our players using .PDF format Adobe Acrobat documents - a media which I believe is accessible on the majority of PCs these days with the help of a small, downloadable free Viewer. 'My question to the panel is' should producing PDF-format turns etc. be seen as a replacement or an enhancement to the game, or should I carry on sending out Laser-printed turns wedged in envelopes with far too many stamps for anyone to count? Also, what do players (pref IF and RPG PBM players whom we cater for) see as being the better option? PDF turns or Paper Turns? I should be putting a few PDF examples on our website soon if people want to have a look at what I'm talking about. I'm also sending the same sample PDFs to our player-base - if any non-players want to have a look at them they can always email me.
