Abeyance of Reality RPG seeks Players From: abeyance@mailandnews.com Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2000 06:54:37 +0000 A room with sloped walls and irregular corners looked normal to the human eye. A single person with a lab coat could convince you to fatally electrocute a stranger. A basement with iron bars could turn you into a sadistic prison guard. Three psychology experiments that all pushed at the same question: To what extent does a person have control over what they do? Social psychology is a field of manipulation, deception. What does it take to make X do Y? It's also a very undeveloped field, with too many questions that will probably never be answered. But what if the boundaries between people and the world could be probed more directly? Or as Zen believes, what if they didn't exist at all? What could a person do then? Well, it might be called magic. Abeyance of Reality is a play-by-email game that looks to explore what would happen to a world if magic were suddenly released. The setting to start will be modern New Haven, CT although locale changes are always a nice thing. Although the game hails Mage as a spiritual predecessor, no knowledge of Mage is required, nor will the game share the dark Gothic tone, instead aiming for a lighter view of reality. I'm looking for three characters to start, with the game broadening as time progresses. The system to be used is FUDGE, a word-based, rules-light and truly elegant system, of which again, no prior knowledge is necessary. GM moves will be 3 times a week, and the game will encourage player creativity and input. Anybody interested should email abeyance@mailandnews.com Up
