Eressea PBEM Info From: "Enno Rehling" <enno@eressea-pbem.de> Date: Sun, 07 Jan 2001 22:53:19 +0000 Eressea (http://eressea-pbem.de/) is by far the most popular free PBEM game in germany. There are almost 1400 actve players in the current game world, which has been running weekly turns since mid-1996. About 50 new players are accepted every week. Th game is a strategic fantasy game, once a derivative of Atlantis 1.0, it has been overhauled in almost every aspect. There is excellent client software written by enthusiastic players (like http://eressea.upb.de/magellan/) and an extensive and complete Manual available in several popular formats (HTML, PDF, Pstscript, CHM, Latex, ASCII). Playing Eressea is free. You should have a working knowledge of German, or be prepared to use your bablefish a lot, since the game and documenation are in German only. Some parts of it have been localized, but this aspect of the game is neither documented nor complete - it's a LOT of work. We have players from the US, Russia, Scandinavia (myself for one), Hungary and several other non-german countries. So don't be shy and give it a try if you speak enough german to make at least a little sense of it :-) It's also a good excuse to remember those german lessons from school! Enno. Referenced By Up
